What this room needs.

  • Size racks for peak Jumu'ah attendance, not an average day. Count about one pair per worshipper plus 20%.
  • Mark a clear "shoes off" line with a change of floor material, not just a sign.
  • Open-backed racks and a dedicated exhaust stop the room from smelling.
  • A bench to sit on: elders and anyone with a cane need to sit to take shoes off.
  • Hard, washable floor on the dirty side; never carpet on the shoe side of the line.
